 How to Remotely Access File Server using Hyper-V  computer  (VPN)

File Server side FS1:

1. In FS1 server Manager add roles : Routing and Remote Access

      2. configure in routing and remote access :
            FS1 > right click > properties >

  a. security tab > checkbox - "Allow custom IPsec policy for L2TP/IKEv2 connection"

  b. PreShared Key: Apple12345

  c. IPv4 tab > radiobutton - Static address pool > click add start IP and End IP (minimum 11ips)

                                                    192.168.1.240 to 192.168.1.250

            d.Apply > OK

      3. IPv4 > NAT > right click > Properties> 

                     NAT tab > radio button- "public interface connected to the internet"

                     checkbox ON - "Enable NAT on this interface

In FS1 server:
Right Click on start> computer Management then right click on administrator > Dial-in Tab > Allow access

     2. In Hyper-V Computer:
          Run>regedit > System > CurrentControlSet >Service > PolicyAgent 

  1. Right click> New > choose DWORD (32-bit) Value

  2. Double click on AssumeUDPEncapsulationContextOnSendRule

  3. give value 2 and ok.

In FileServer (FS1) Firewall:

Firewall >inbound Rules > new rule >

  a. choose rule type - Predefined > "Routing and Remote Access (L2TP-In)

  b. new rule > port > UDP > 500,4500

In Untangle Router:
a. Add Port forwarding Rule > add > UDP:Port 1701, UDP:port 500 and UDP:port 4500

Again In Hyper-V win 10 machine: 

  1. create VPN 

  2. Ncpa.cpl > select  Hyper-V VPN > right click >properties >networking>off Version 6

    1. Choose Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)

    2. Click on properties>advance >turn off “use default gateway on remote network”

    3. ok.


In Hyper-V Win10 computer:
Open Command prompt and type below commands for map drive ( Don’t forget to share below folders in FS1 sever)
